Four Paws For Vets
This program offers fully trained service dogs free of charge for wounded veterans.  The program includes training with the recipient, and lifetime follow-up training as needed, for no additional charge.  Service Dogs in this program are trained for psychiatric responses and minimal mobility. Many of the returning wounded troops from the Iraq War could benefit from having a mobility and/or psychiatric service dog in their healing and reintegration into civilian life.  Unfortunately, the need is greater than the number of trained dogs available through existing programs.

How we establish a bond between Vets and Dogs
At Four Paws For Vets, we use positive motivational methods to teach the dogs to love what they are doing.  We also start teaching our puppies service dog concepts as early as eight weeks of age.  Unlike other groups, the dogs spend their entire training period in puppy raiser homes, not in kennels.  The puppy raisers are taught to train the dogs the service dog skills they need.
